When it comes to selling your home, first impressions matter. That’s why it is so important to have your home styled in a way that brings out it’s best features and brings a welcoming feel.
Statistics show, that a well presented and styled home is more likely to sell quicker, and for potentially a higher amount.
Not sure where to start? We’ve gathered some tips to help you get your property ready for sale.
Depersonalise
Once you’ve made the decision to sell your home, it’s important to emotionally detach yourself from the property. You must then begin to depersonalise it. This means removing family photos and other items of personal significance. Buyers need to be able to image themselves living in the space, and this is often hard to do with others personal belongings on display.
Clear the clutter
Decluttering is by far the easiest step you can take towards improving the look and feel of your home for sale. Pack away kids toys, clear your bench tops and surfaces and rearrange your shelves. Clear away as much of your day-to-day clutter as possible! Appliances should all be out of the way, and minimal objects left out on bench tops.
Repairs and touch ups
Potential buyers want to be able to picture themselves moving into their new home straight away, therefore if there are any unfinished jobs or things that need repairing you should do these right away. Consider if any walls need repainting or carpets steam cleaned, and make sure the house has been thoroughly cleaned. If you don’t have time to do this yourself, hire a professional cleaner.
Some other great tips to remember are:
- Use neutral colour pallets
- Use a lot of greenery and plants, this adds a pop of colour and freshness
- Layer different textures with cushions and throw rugs
